Srinagar, Dec 18: In an endeavor to help the poor and needy people, Shaheen Sports Syndicate (SSS) Sunday distributed blankets and flour bags among lepers at Bahraar Leper Colony. More than 60 lepers received the aid.
The lepers felt happy after receiving the aid and thanked the SSS for helping them at a time when they have been neglected by the authorities.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman SSS, Showkat Ahmad Khanyari, said that in future they will take more steps and will try their level best to help the lepers. “It is our responsibility to look after the poor and needy people,” he said.
Executive President, J&K Bank, Tafazzul Hussain who was also present on the occasion said J&K is taking many steps to serve the people of Kashmir who have faced lots of odds in the past few decades. “We are only the trustees of the organisation. It is the bank of a common Kashmiri. We will also assist the lepers in some ways,” he said.
Social activist, Pir Noor-u-din Pandit said the society which neglects the poor and needy people will never achieve its goal and will have to face repeated failures.
He also said that through a well-planned strategy, lakhs of rupees are being invested to engage youth in immoral activities.
“Today we are happy as somebody approached us and showed kindness by giving some support. We are totally neglected by the authorities,” said, Lal Din, who lives in Leper Colony.
