Srinagar, Dec 14: Valley’s mountaineer Firdous Ahmad Khan returned back to valley after trekking Mount Everest high passes for 50 days. This is the second time that Khan was part of international Mount Everest expedition.
Firdous Ahamd was a part of 25-member team drawn from various countries including UK, Canada, New Zeeland, Australia and India who trekked the highest passes of Mount Everest in 50 days expedition. The trekkers had to negotiate 250 kilometers of mountaineering and ice climbing.
In the expedition, the participants climbed six highest passes in Everest range which include Chola Pass (5434m) , Kung mula pass (5546m), Rejula pass (5443m), Gokyao pass(5448m)- popularly known as "The Ultimate Trek of Everest, Kala Patar (5548m) and they also trekked through Zxgla pass (5334m).
The mountaineers started from Lukla and trekked through Namche Bazzar and Tengeboche Monesttry and finally reached to Bolo Kosi Valey near Tibet Border.

Notably, Khan has the distinction of representing India in an international roller skating event form Delhi to Lahore in 1984 and has also represented State in two national roller hockey championships.
Khan is also associated with Shaheen Sports Syndicate (SSS) which has been conducting various sports and prize distribution ceremonies for many years for the promotion of sports and other allied activities in the Valley.
Chairman SSS Showkat Ahmad Khanyari hailed Khan for this achievement.
Khanyari said this is a proud moment for Kashmir.
“His achievement is not only pride for SSS but for Kashmir valley. He has participated in the expedition with some of the great mountaineers. His participation in this expedition has brought good name for Kashmir,” said Khanyari while felicitating Khan for his recent expedition.
Pertinently, Khan has been only encouraged by SSS for his adventurous activities.
SSS organized a special felicitation ceremony to hails Khan in his previous expedition to Mount Everest.
“We are ready to encourage those who are let down by the State government. It is our duty to encourage the sports persons so that they can excel at national and international level,” said Khanyari.
Besides, sports activities SSS is also planning to organize other social activities.
“As a part of social responsibility we will distribute blankets to the leper patients,” said Khanyari.
